For its latest return to Milan Fashion Week, MCM turns to Taekwondo as the central inspiration for a presentation that celebrates the art of motion. The martial art’s philosophy of control, respect, and flow informs both the design language and the immersive environment at Casa degli Artisti, creating a single narrative. As MCM looks ahead to its 50th anniversary in 2026, this presentation is a testament to the brand’s enduring ability to transform motion into modern luxury.
Milan Fashion Week has become a recurring platform for MCM to showcase innovation and immersive storytelling. This season, the brand uses it to deepen its exploration of martial balance and cosmic possibility, rooted in its heritage of craftsmanship and innovation. The result is a dialogue between the grounded discipline of Taekwondo and the boundless imagination at the heart of the MCM universe – an interplay that reflects the brand’s ethos of freedom and transformation.
MCM debuts one-of-a-kind creations designed by Dirk Schönberger, Chief Brand Officer. Oversized martial arts belts become a strapless dress, encasing the body in structured folds. A bright blue taekwondo knot becomes the central construction of a mini dress, turning restraint into sculpture and discipline into silhouette. Martial poise meets tactical precision in a Zen uniform composed of a vest, crisp shirt, and pleated balloon trousers. Quilted bomber jackets are paired with strong shoulders and a controlled waist, while a white boxy jacket is stitched together from martial arts belts. Rounding out the presentation with the gravitas of dojo masters, a sharp double-breasted blazer ties together with a martial arts knot and is paired with wide trousers for increased fluidity.
According to Schönberger: “I am happy to be back at Milan Fashion Week with a collection that explores movement—not just physical, but cultural and emotional. Inspired by the discipline and flow of Taekwondo, we looked at how motion shapes identity. The result is a dialogue between tradition and innovation, where every piece reflects balance, respect, and dynamism.”
This idea of motion is evident in the very materials of the pieces, which serve as active elements within the collection. Cotton, canvas, and wool deliver resilience and lightness, while a functional jersey material grounds the vest and dresses with tactile strength. Each design reflects MCM’s belief that apparel should not only be worn but performed, serving as an extension of the body in motion
The exhibition space, titled MCM: THE ART OF MOTION, mirrors this kinetic energy. Casa degli Artisti is transformed into a design dojo—a sanctuary where motion becomes art through immersive installations and layered storytelling. At the heart of the experience is an AI hologram, inspired by the discipline of taekwondo and developed in collaboration with Capsa Studio.
