Olivia Dean Unveils New Single “Lady Lady” Ahead of Album Release

Multi-BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominee Olivia Dean today unveils “Lady Lady” — the second single from her highly anticipated sophomore album, The Art of Loving, set for release on September 26 via Capitol Records.

A soulful, emotive ode to transformation and feminine strength, “Lady Lady” arrives alongside a visually stunning music video starring Royal Ballet principal dancer Francesca Hayward, who performs alongside Olivia and a cast of young dancers. The dreamlike video, directed by longtime collaborator Jake Erland, perfectly reflects the song’s delicate yet empowering energy.

“Lady Lady is a song about the universe, mother nature, and accepting and trusting in the plan that she has for you. It’s about the feeling of having to change just as you’re getting used to a version of yourself. This song reminds me of the power we hold as women — I think it feels like peace.”

“Lady Lady” follows the release of the album’s first single, “Nice To Each Other,” which featured an acclaimed one-take visual from the same creative team. To support its release, Olivia performed two intimate, sold-out underplay shows at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London and L’Olympia in Paris, treating fans to brand-new material as well as fan favourites from her debut album Messy.

Messy earned widespread critical acclaim and firmly established Olivia Dean as one of the UK’s most captivating voices in neo-soul and pop. In recent months, she joined Sam Fender on his UK headline tour — including a sold-out show at London Stadium, where the two performed their new collaboration “Rein Me In” live for the first time. She also made a surprise appearance at Sabrina Carpenter’s massive BST Hyde Park show on July 6.

Now, Olivia prepares to embark on a completely sold-out North American headline tour, kicking off this week and spanning major cities across the US and Canada.

With her unmistakable warmth, lyrical depth, and emotional clarity, Olivia Dean’s upcoming album The Art of Loving promises an intimate exploration of love in all its forms — romantic, platonic, self-love, and beyond. It marks a bold, soul-stirring new era from one of the UK’s most compelling storytellers.
