Bnnyhunna Finds Stillness in ‘The Heart Part 3 / The Missing Piece’

Award-winning Dutch-Ghanaian artist, producer and multi-instrumentalist Bnnyhunna opens a new chapter with ‘The Heart Part 3 / The Missing Piece’, a double single released via Avant Garden on 23 October, offering the first glimpse into his forthcoming album Selah, due this November. Rooted in reflection, musicality and space, the two tracks reveal contrasting sides of his artistry. ‘The Heart Part 3’ drifts through delicate flutes and spacious, meditative instrumentation, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that invites listeners to slow down and sit with their thoughts. In contrast, ‘The Missing Piece’ introduces driving drums, bright synths and dynamic rhythms, blending jazz instrumentation, electronic textures and African influences while retaining the warmth and introspection that connect both recordings. Together, the tracks establish the sonic direction of Selah, a project that explores the beauty of stillness alongside the energy of movement.

Meaning ‘reflection’ in Hebrew, Selah finds Bnnyhunna looking at life in its entirety, making room for both its beauty and its difficulties through deeply human, meditative live jazz recordings. Drawing on jazz, hip-hop, Afro and R&B, the multi-instrumentalist has cultivated a distinctive sound that moves beyond genre boundaries, bringing traditional influences into conversation with contemporary production. His work has earned recognition from Rolling Stone Africa, Highsnobiety and Complex, alongside connections to artists including Kokoroko, Blue Lab Beats and RIMON. With this latest release, Bnnyhunna turns the focus further inward, creating music that encourages a more intentional kind of listening. As anticipation builds for Selah, ‘The Heart Part 3 / The Missing Piece’ offers a compelling introduction to an artist embracing reflection as both a creative practice and a way of understanding the world.
