Ruti Glistens On New Single “Flowers”

There’s something undeniably freeing about Ruti Glistens’s new single, ‘Flowers’. The latest release from the genre blending artist (they/them) sees them embracing a brighter, more playful sound, wrapped in shimmering pop production and carried by the warmth and power of their unmistakable voice. While Ruti has built a reputation for emotionally rich songwriting, Flowers feels like a breath of fresh air. “I think the flowers represent someone you love,” they say. “I could romanticise anywhere if the one I love is there with me. It feels breezy and light and lovely. My songs often carry a lot of emotional weight, but this one feels like a weight off my shoulders and free.” It’s a refreshing new direction that still feels unmistakably them, honest, heartfelt, and impossible to pin to just one genre.

The single arrives as Ruti’s profile continues to grow. Their recent release, I’ll Be Your Friend, earned support from Spotify, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music, alongside praise from ClashThe Line of Best Fit and F Word Magazine. They were also selected for YouTube’s Foundry Rising Program and have spent recent months performing alongside Teddy Swims, Alanis Morissette and Hemlocke Springs, with a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Latitude Festival still to come. If Flowers is any indication of what’s next, Ruti are entering a chapter that feels lighter, bolder and full of possibility.
