Adidas has launched a new off-pitch capsule in tribute to Jamaica’s most celebrated musical icon, Bob Marley, blending sport, style and cultural legacy into an eight-piece apparel collection.
Created in close collaboration with The Bob Marley Foundation, the adidas x Bob Marley Collection draws directly from archival outfits, tour photography and iconography from Marley’s life. A standout reference includes the lilac Firebird track pants worn during his European tours, now reimagined through an adidas Originals lens.
Central to the collection is the mantra “Football is Freedom”, a phrase developed with the Foundation that reflects Marley’s deep love of the game and belief in its power to unite and liberate. The message appears across hero pieces, including a golden-yellow football jersey and a full-zip track jacket, while a flowing wave motif runs throughout the range, symbolising the rhythm of Marley’s music and the spirit of Jamaica.
Each garment is finished with thoughtful details, from the adidas Originals Trefoil placed opposite a distinctive ‘Bob’ calligraphy embroidery, to colour palettes rooted in Jamaica’s green, gold and red.
Highlights from the collection include the Football Freedom Jersey in national-flag yellow with emerald accents, an emerald green full-zip track jacket paired with purple track pants, and lifestyle pieces such as a striped dress and T-shirt, wave-patterned shorts, crew socks and a brown-and-white adidas bowler bag.
Speaking on the launch, Sam Handy, GM at adidas Football, described the project as “an incredible privilege,” noting how Marley’s music, personal style and love of football shaped the final designs. Cedella Marley, CEO of The Bob Marley Foundation, called the collaboration “a landmark moment” that carries her father’s message of unity and pride onto a global stage.
Beyond fashion, the collection also highlights the Foundation’s ongoing humanitarian work in Jamaica, including relief efforts for communities impacted by Hurricane Melissa, supported by additional donations from adidas.
