Maisy Kay is carving out her own lane in the world of pop music, blending dreamy, otherworldly soundscapes with a deep love for storytelling and fantasy. With a voice that has been hailed as “angelic” (Interview) and “distinct” (Wonderland), she has already made waves with collaborations alongside industry giants like Timbaland, Tiësto, and TheFatRat. Her latest two-part EP, Wonderlust, showcases her ability to fuse euphoric romance with dark, moody pop—further setting her apart as an artist to watch.
Now, Maisy Kay is gearing up for an exciting new chapter: joining Jamie Miller on his UK and European Long Way Home tour. Though born in England, she has only played a handful of shows on home soil, making this tour an especially meaningful return. “I can’t wait to perform in the UK again and share some tracks from my latest EP—it’s good to be back!” she says.
Beyond music, Maisy Kay’s artistry extends into everything she does, from designing her own merch to embracing a range of unexpected hobbies, including archery and aerial silks. She even has a mini-menagerie of pets—including a bearded dragon, a cat, and frogs—who, as she jokes in our interview, could easily form their own rock band.
In our conversation, Maisy opens up about her dream movie plot, pre-show rituals, and how she’d survive (or not) in a zombie apocalypse. Read on to step inside her world.
Welcome back to the UK! You were born here but haven’t played many shows—what’s the first thing you have to do when you land? (Fish & chips? Binge-watch British TV?)
I absolutely insisted on a Greggs steak bake and sausage roll. We also got SO lucky that we were in England on a Sunday, so I took my team out for a classic Sunday roast dinner. Those are, hands down, the things I miss most about home!
Your music has this dreamy, otherworldly vibe—if your songs could turn into a movie, what would the plot be? Bonus points if you cast yourself as the lead!
I think it would be a twisted fairytale gone wrong. I can see the lighter songs of Wonderlust representing a rose-colored-glasses princess, and as we delve into the darker, sadder stuff, we realize—plot twist—the prince was the villain all along!
You’ve sung in Na’vi and Japanese—be honest, could you survive a full conversation in either language, or would it just be “hello” and “where’s the bathroom?”
I was definitely much more fluent in Na’vi when I was 10, so I’ve since lost a lot of my knowledge of it. I know phrases in both and actually plan to start taking Japanese lessons to learn it better. There was a time when I learned to write and read basic Hiragana, but again… I’ve forgotten with time!
Your EP is split into Dawn and Dusk—so, are you the type to watch the sunrise with a cup of tea or dance under the stars ‘til your phone dies?
I definitely dance under the stars—I am not much of a morning person! I’ve watched a few lovely sunrises in my life, but it’s usually because I’m still awake and haven’t managed to sleep, not because I’m waking up for it!
You’ve worked with some major names like Timbaland and Tiësto—have you ever had a total “Wait… is this my life?!” moment in the studio?
Absolutely. It’s a thought I have often, especially when I’m fortunate enough to work with so many of the greats. I feel so, so grateful, and it honestly helps my own insecurities and self-doubts to see that such incredible artists want to work with me and value my work!

Who’s on your music mood board? Any artists—past or present—who inspire your sound and creativity?
I love everything Chappell Roan is doing right now. Freddie Mercury has always been my idol, and I love the flamboyance that they both bring to a stage. I love costumes and musical theatre, and I try to bring some drama into my own stage and vocal performances.
Touring can be intense! Who’s in your support system that keeps you grounded? (Family, friends, pets, a really great snack?)
Honestly, I think one of my favorite parts of touring is making friends with the people you tour with. We are, in a way, the only people who understand what it’s like, and on every tour I’ve been on, we sort of become a little family. I have so many great memories of bonding with my crew and the people on the bus, and I still keep in contact with every tour crew, even years later! I also love my parents and my best friends, and getting pictures of my cat always helps.
You design your own merch, which is super cool—but if you had to make the most ridiculous tour merch ever, what would it be? (A Maisy Kay action figure? Custom fairy wings?)
Oh, fairy LED wings sound AMAZING. I’d love to see an entire crowd full of light-up wings. Maybe we could sync them to my music so they’d pulsate to the rhythm… I’m half-joking… but also, there is now a world where I very legitimately try to do this. I’m selling myself on it just thinking about it!
You’re into archery and aerial silks, which makes you sound like a legit action hero. In a zombie apocalypse, which skill is getting you out alive?
Oh, to be honest, I’m dying for SURE. But… I have a boating license and know how to captain most-sized boats, so I like to think I’d just run to a boat and take off to sea since zombies can’t swim. If I could make it to the boat before getting eaten alive, that is—ha!
Let’s talk pets! You have a bearded dragon, a cat, and frogs—if they had to start a band, who’s on lead vocals, who’s on guitar, and who’s the chaotic drummer?
My cat, Freddie, is absolutely lead vocals because he truly NEVER stops talking. He and I have full-blown conversations with how much he meows. I could see my frog being the chaotic drummer, leaping up and down on the snare. We’ll give guitar to my lizard—she’s got the claws for it!
What’s your ultimate “off-stage” hobby? When you’re not making music, what’s something you geek out over?
I love video games, and I can truly spend hours and hours in a fantasy universe, falling for and crying over fictional characters. I’ve poured over 300 hours into Skyrim and 150 into Borderlands 2.
You’re on tour—what’s your pre-show ritual? (Are we talking zen meditation or blasting pump-up jams and dancing like no one’s watching?)
So my playback guy actually bought me a little pink cat doing a meditative yoga pose as a gift on the Tori tour last year. I affectionately named him “Zen Cat.” We place him in every dressing room now before the show to bring us good energy for the night!
If you had to describe yourself in three emojis, what would they be and why?
I picked the butterfly for obvious reasons. The second one—I’m extremely sensitive. For better or for worse, I have a lot of feelings! And honestly, the third is my general outlook on most things. I use that emoji SO much, and I feel like it perfectly sums up my state of being most of the time.
