Olivia Rodrigo headlines BST Hyde Park with a stellar performance

The Grammy Award-winning superstar Olivia Rodrigo delivered an incredible headline set as she ignited the stage with a dazzling performance on the first night of BST Hyde Park 2025. Hyde Park in the summer transforms into a festival oasis, welcoming a star-studded lineup across June and July. Interweaving a stunning spectrum of genres across multiple weeks, the lineup satisfies the thirst of music fans, and BST Hyde Park showcases sets from musicians that are diverse in sound. This includes the likes of Zach Bryan, Noah Kahan, Sabrina Carpenter, Stevie Wonder, Jeff Lynne’s ELO and more! 

Stepping through the gates of BST Hyde Park in London immediately morphs you into the world of Olivia Rodrigo, as hues of purple clothing and cowboy hats can be spotted amongst the crowd. The festival transports you into a space that brings the same level of feel-good endorphins as being at a theme park. Your senses awaken as the vibration of the music rumbles through your body, and it echoes from the speakers. With lots to explore on-site, the stages include the Great Oak Stage and the Rainbow Stage, as well as the opportunity to visit The AMEX Experience and the Olivia Rodrigo GUTS World Tour Bus.

Feeding into the musical appetite of fans, BST Hyde Park orchestrated a mix of seasoned and rising musicians across multiple stages. Crafting together a strong lineup, the likes of The Last Dinner Party, Caity Baser, Ruti, BETWEEN FRIENDS, flowerovlove and Girl in Red performed. Many of the genres spanned across the pop and indie universe and the lineup felt perfectly curated and fans were engaging attentively with the songs.

British-Ivorian artist Flowerovlove energised the crowd on the main stage with her pop-indie-soaked tracks and vibrant stage aesthetics. The colourful animations on the screens included a creative cartoon version of herself. She sang a range of pop-infused punchy tracks, from topics shedding light on a situationship to songs diving into themes of friendship. She also sang the single ‘new friends’, which was released on the day of her BST performance. Also, across the iconic main stage, titled the Great Oak Stage, Norwegian singer and songwriter Girl in Red performed. Gearing towards an indie sound, she captured the attention of the audience with songs such as her 2018 release ‘i wanna be your girlfriend’. The Last Dinner Party commanded the stage as the penultimate artist to play the Great Oak Stage with their ethereal aura. Captivating the audience with their magnetism, they built a high-energy buzz, ready for Olivia Rodrigo.

With the sun slowly descending across the park, the crowd beamed with excitement as Olivia Rodrigo took to the stage. Opening with her 2023 hit ‘bad idea right?’, she was radiant, not only exuding confidence but her shiny silver outfit glimmered in the light. She has carved an incredible musical discography and her music is like medicine for the heart. Her lyrics capture the highs and lows of love, and her performance brings the emotions to life. You could feel the power behind every word whilst singing songs such as ’vampire’, ‘drivers license’, ‘love is embarrassing’, ’happier’ and ‘deja vu’.

Absorbing her surroundings, she interacted with the crowd and spoke to the audience and there was a funny moment when she spotted a sign that said ‘wearing diapers for front row’, the sign pointed out what people are wearing to claim a front spot at a festival. At another point during the set, she also spoke about how she loves English humour, as well as English music and English boys. There was also a special surprise as she brought out Ed Sheeran on stage, causing a surge of cheering. They both performed his iconic single ‘The A Team’, it felt like a magical milestone where two hugely successful artists in pop music crossed paths to duet together. Ed Sheeran posted a clip of his performance with Olivia Rodrigo on his Instagram and he wrote about how the collaboration came to fruition. He said, ‘Was gonna go watch the show anyway but she hit me and asked to sing The A Team with her, which was such a buzz’.

Marking a successful first night at BST Hyde Park, Olivia Rodrigo delivered a pop-perfect performance. At 22 years old, Olivia Rodrigo has built an astounding career for herself as she brought an effortless flair to her performance. From acting in ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ to headlining festivals, she is continuously excelling and evolving.
