MIMI WEBB EPISODE 4 – Mimi talks to Jordan about meeting celebs such as Adele, Harry Styles and Charlie D’amilio, her debut album ‘Amelia’, her rise to fame, her memories of The BRITs, her career aspirations, artists she’d love to collaborate with, going to celebrity parties with her dad and relationships and her ‘icks’,
Mimi’s love for Adele and meeting her
Mimi Webb:
I think it’s also more, like, wow, she’s gonna take this, her personal life and put it into music. I think it’s so special when people do that. I think that’s so hard and vulnerable. And it’s really hard because you can either be really, like, probably with the album, I was like, right. I just want to put it all into the album, but it’s also hard not to be bitter as well. So it was hard for her, you know, Adele is the queen of these heartbreak songs, I think. I just was so excited for her to put all her life emotions into it.
Jordan:
Have you met Adele?
Mimi Webb:
Yeah, I have. Honestly, and when I say it, I have to remind myself, it was at a Billie Eilish concert. I was so hungover. And we were with my manager and we went backstage and I was with one of my best friends, and when we were walking, Brandon came out and he was like, She was in the management room. He was like, Just so you know, Adele’s in there and I was like, already, on the shakes, the hangover shakes, everything was going off. And I was like, Oh my god. What are we gonna do? Because he’s American, he was like, We have to meet her, like, You have to meet her. And I’m like, Oh my God. I was, like, Ok, and we go in and she was so lovely. And we were just talking about life, just normal stuff. And I was like, Wow, and yeah, it made my summer.
Meeting Harry Styles at The BRITs
Mimi Webb:
I met Harry Styles there. He was so nice. Then we were just chatting. And everyone knows that I’m a big Harry Styles fan. He’s such a legend. I was just- It was just so nice to meet an artist that I’m a huge fan of because I was always thinking, Oh, would I? Would I not? Would I meet them? And then yeah, and it all naturally happened. Then I’m there with my mum. My mum was loving it. She was like, Yeah!
Meeting Charlie D’Amelio
Mimi Webb:
So I met Charlie, 2019, Christmas time. So literally, just before everything went, you know, crazy. My manager and her manager knew each other. So they were like, Right, come on. Like, they knew. They were like, Come on. This is the new thing, TikTok, at least meet her and I had no clue what TikTok was. I knew she was a lot younger than me. I was like, Oh, you know, actually you know, I’m not- I’m here on my own. I’d love to do something, like, have dinner and do something. So we went and had dinner and Charlie’s parents were there as well. And everyone was like, Oh, you should sing on Charlie’s TikTok and just see what happens. And I was like, Oh my gosh, so I’m singing, in the middle of a restaurant for this TikTok. And it was just very intense. It was just, like, let’s just do it. And I was, obviously, you know, I thought, Oh, my God, this could be amazing. So spontaneous, you know? So, yes, then I did it. And it went crazy. It just went off. Yeah, it was really mad. And then, so then from that to then releasing ‘Before I go’, in the pandemic, it was kind of, like, that perfect scenario of then Charlie promoting my song on TikTok

Her debut Album ‘Amelia’
Mimi Webb:
I always dreamed of my first album, and what it’s gonna look like and how it’s gonna go down. And Every time I’d hear a song, I was, like, This is it. This is on the album. But I think then it was coming to the end of really getting the final songs together. And it started to really come together. And I, at the time that I dropped my album, I was in a very, I’d say, a place where I was in a really self-growth mode where I was just like, Right. I really want to get my head and everything together. So the album was such a chapter-changer for me. And I think that’s why I’ve got such love and connection with it because I feel like all those songs even as soon as I dropped the album, I went straight out on tour, and was singing the songs every night, and you just end up having these memories that are created through the shows and through the tour, and just, kind of, getting to know myself more, and even my music taste and my music, like, the way I create and what I like to create. But yeah, I think for me, it was such a fun chapter, also to be able to call it ‘Amelia’, I think, even my parents were like, Oh, they loved it. It was, kind of, a bit of an appreciation to them. Because, you know, no one knew my name was Amelia. And it was- I think I just wanted to. Because it was always ‘Oh, do we just do a self-titled album?’ And I was like, Oh, I don’t really want to do Mimi Webb by Mimi Webb. I didn’t like that. But I then was like, Oh, actually, I like Amelia. I like being able to go down that route where I’m inviting people into a bit more of the deeper side to me and on a deeper level into kind of my background and everything.
Mimi’s rise to fame – tips for being a TikTok star
Jordan:
How would you do a TikTok?
Mimi Webb:
I think it’s all about the first seven seconds.
Jordan:
Go on. Give me the tips. Hit me with the tips. What do you mean by the first seven seconds? What are you gonna do in the first seven seconds?
Mimi Webb:
You gotta just capture people, I used to start doing, like, I think the more I did it, the more I’d get louder. Each TikTok was just louder at the start and I’d be quite in people’s faces and I look back and I’m like, Oh my god, you know, it’s just, kind of, part of the process, I guess. But you just got to get people to watch for the first seven seconds and then you get there.
Mimi wearing a bodyguarded necklace to The BRITs
Jordan:
So your first BRITs red carpet, how was that?
Mimi Webb:
So fun. Oh my gosh. It was so fun. I really liked it. I did really love it. And I think I’ve done some before I was like, Oh, this is scary. Because I’m so irrelevant. Why am I there? And then because when I had my nomination, I I felt comfortable and I felt, like, I was where I was meant to be at that point, which I’ve never felt like before on something like that. So yeah, it was really fun and I love just wearing a dress and I had this gorgeous necklace on, this diamond necklace. And it was amazing.
Jordan:
A necklace that was so expensive that you had to have-
Mimi Webb:
A bodyguard.
Jordan:
Are we talking, like, a quarter mil or something?
Mimi Webb:
Yeah, it was very expensive. All I know is someone had to be with me at all times. I had to take off before I went into the actual ceremony. Like he was alert, making sure no one’s- Because even when, I was doing interviews, someone would then go to touch the necklace and he’d have to be like, No, you can’t. Yeah, he was like, You can’t touch this. So he was very alert.
Mimi’s BRITs Nomination
Jordan:
BRIT Awards. You’ve already been nominated under your belt. Let’s go. How does that feel?
Mimi Webb:
It was very cool. It was honestly the best night. I had so much fun. It was so good. Like, really nice. Yeah, I actually went to the after-party and then I went and met some of my friends. And we just had, an after-party. Just a few of us, 10 of us. Yeah, it was really nice. I didn’t get it but do you know what- I was so grateful for the nomination and just to even be in that category with so many incredible artists. I was just like This is so amazing. And just to be there, I was right near the stage as well. My table is right next to the stage. So I was seeing all the performances up close. And it was so much fun. And yeah, really loved it.
Iconic BRITs Moments
Jordan:
Are there any moments that stand out for you? Historical BRITs moments?
Mimi Webb:
I think the Dua Lipa year. When Dua got the Best New Artists and then she did the New Rules performance that was such a sick year. I loved that year cause it was so nice to see that growth from right at the start. I think it was probably the Madonna year as well, you know when she fell off the stage. I actually thought that was so cool. I thought, I just thought she just handled it like a champ.
Mimi’s career aspirations
Mimi Webb:
I want to be able to sell out arenas. I want to do stadiums then- I know in my head, I know there are the steps I want to take, and I want to get a number one song. I want to get my album, second album to be like, just, I feel like I’m growing now, I just turned 23. And I feel like every year I always weirdly, like, the day after my birthday. I sit and just think about my life and where it’s at and where I want to see it go in the next like you said five years. So I like to just, each year just see where my values are at and what things I want to add to it.
Which artists Mimi would like to collaborate with
Jordan:
Is there anybody who you would like to make a song with?
Mimi Webb:
I have so many people, thinking now, Lewis Capaldi could be really cool. I love Lewis as well. So it’s nice because we’ve got a friendship already. So it’s nice when you know someone already. Central Cee, I think it would be sick, Central Cee’s so cool, and then Harry Styles.
Mimi going to a celebrity party with her dad
Mimi Webb:
I barely have but I’ve only been to a few kinds of parties or something where you have loads of famous people out and it scares me so much, because like you said, there’s so many strong personalities in the room. I went to one and my dad was there like, Oh my God, he’s in the construction industry and he was like, This is so intense, you know, just going to a different world that he’s in and it is a lot. It is intense, but I think being able to keep people close to you that you’ve had from day one, this sounds really strange, but I love ironing. I know it sounds so strange, but just ironing makes me feel so chilled. It’s really therapeutic. I love it. So you just have time to think. That sounds so strange. I’m so random but because there’s such an intense world it really is nice to do things that feel more normal and relaxed.
Mimi’s journaling and relationship
Mimi Webb:
I have a diary for work, but more like a journal.
Jordan:
Because you’re always heartbroken.
Mimi Webb:
Unfortunately. That’s very true.
Jordan:
You’re in a relationship?
Mimi Webb:
Yeah, I’m in a relationship now, and I’m happy now, thank god, but yeah, I’ve had times. But you know, I think also for me, I’m a very sensitive person. So I need to write things down. I need to, also, for my self-growth, just to be, like, because then I can look back and go, Right. I remember that happened. I need to handle it in a different way this time kind of thing. I’m a huge drama queen. I’ll dramatise everything. And that’s the thing, I need someone that knows that. And my boyfriend gets it. He just knows me. He’s like, Amelia, come on. And I’m like, Oh, it’s all good now!
Mimi’s ‘icks’
Jordan:
You’ve got no beige flags?
Mimi Webb:
No. I get really icked out by when they show off, like when someone starts trying to really show off in front of you.
