TOGA SPRING SUMMER 2026

“Ordinariness, Mediocrity, Versatility”

For Spring/Summer 2026, Toga challenged the very notion of the ordinary, transforming everyday garments into statements of individuality. Inspired by Claes Oldenburg’s reflections on the beauty of simple things made unexpected, designer Yasuko Furuta stripped away intellectual formality to explore clothes rooted in the familiar but reimagined for contemporary edge.

Adventurous tailoring and fearless textural play anchored the collection. Shirts were a recurring canvas—whether in crisp cotton printed with bold yellow-and-olive florals paired with sculpted cream shorts, or in tactile knit hybrids that fused burgundy checks with soft, voluminous khaki trousers. Buttons at the back, cactus prints reminiscent of wallpaper, and unexpected placements of text lent playful disruption to classic shirting codes.

Prints and graphics added immediacy. A bold, oversized floral knit tee in primary shades was styled with navy tailored trousers, its exaggerated shoulders creating sculptural presence. Denim made appearances alongside utilitarian separates, while belts reimagined as oversized keychains injected a sense of street-smart irreverence.

Texture became a defining theme. A sleeveless black knit top paired with shorts edged in faux-fur accents and orange patterned lining delivered a high-low clash of matte, plush, and gloss. Elsewhere, a ribbed black knit two-piece with exaggerated white cuffs, collars, and calf bands turned preppy tropes on their head, embellished with chains and crystal brooches for kinetic shine.

The most striking moments came when Toga’s experimentation turned quiet codes into spectacle. An olive-green tech polo paired with ivory shorts densely embroidered with 3D florals, topped with a cream overskirt, epitomised the collection’s push-pull of simplicity and excess.

Furuta described the collection as drawing from “the sadness of dropping ice cream”—a meditation on imperfection and the poetry of accidents. That sentiment translated into garments that celebrated the overlooked and elevated the everyday. In reframing ordinariness through unexpected prints, embellishments, and textures, Toga offered a collection that was both versatile and visionary—ideal for the style-savvy dresser who craves refinement laced with surprise.
