Gucci Fall-Winter 2025: A Heritage Revival

Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2025 show at Milan Fashion Week marked a pivotal moment for the brand, as the in-house design team took the helm following the departure of creative director Sabato De Sarno. The collection paid homage to Gucci’s storied past while infusing fresh elements that signal a new direction.

The venue’s transformation from its signature deep red to a rich dark green set the stage for the evening. A live orchestra, conducted by Justin Hurwitz, provided a dynamic soundtrack, enhancing the ambiance as models navigated a runway shaped like the iconic interlocking G logo.

The collection drew inspiration from multiple decades, notably the 1960s and 1990s. Boxy mini-dresses and shift suits reminiscent of the Mod era featured prominently, updated with contemporary fabrics and finishes. Silk scarves were styled over baseball caps, adding a modern twist to classic accessories. The 1990s influence was evident in deconstructed blouses and luxurious materials like faux fur and satin, with the iconic horsebit motif reimagined in chunky necklaces and the interlocking G logo adorning various accessories.

A notable aspect of the show was its co-ed presentation, seamlessly blending menswear and womenswear. For men, the collection offered slightly oversized double-blazers and tailored suits, while women’s designs included slim pencil skirts and lace-trimmed slip dresses. The color palette ranged from vibrant purples and greens to classic neutrals, reflecting a balance between boldness and tradition.

The front row featured a mix of celebrities and fashion insiders, including actors Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jessica Chastain, Parker Posey, and Dev Patel, underscoring the brand’s enduring influence in both fashion and entertainment spheres.

This collection, crafted in just two and a half weeks by Gucci’s in-house team, serves as a testament to the brand’s resilience and creative prowess during a period of transition. By revisiting and reinterpreting elements from its rich history, Gucci continues to captivate audiences and set trends in the fashion industry.
