Prada and “Tom-Daya”: A Marriage of Fragrance

On 29 July, Zendaya was named global ambassador for Prada Paradoxe, fronting a Barry Jenkins-directed campaign and a new addition to the line, Paradoxe Sweet Chemistry,  a sweeter spin on the original, built around blackcurrant syrup, orange blossom, and a neroli milk accord. Tom Holland has fronted the men’s line, Paradigme, since last August. Two separate deals, eleven months apart, same house. They’re also one of the biggest power couples in Hollywood right now, a fact Prada didn’t have to spell out. The internet did the math on its own within hours.

The names line up almost too well. His and hers, in scent and in real life, without a single shared frame of footage between them. “His and hers fragrance” is usually a line brands make up. Here it’s just what’s a true reflection of their bathroom shelf.

That’s what separates this from the usual celebrity-couple stunt. Zendaya said it herself: “Paradoxe was already a personal favourite that I wore long before I was approached.” Prada is just catching up to something that was already true.

Zendaya and Holland met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016, started dating years later, and have spent the better part of a decade building separate careers that happen to intersect at the biggest franchises in the business with huge films like Spider-Man, Dune, Euphoria. She’s an Emmy winner. He’s carried a $2 billion superhero franchise. Individually, either of them is a marketing department’s dream signing. Together, they’re something closer to a cultural event.

Zendaya confirmed their engagement at the 2025 Golden Globes with a five-carat ring that fans spotted within minutes. Since then, wedding rumours have followed them through award season after award season, fuelled by little more than a stylist’s comment and a photo of a gold band. None of it has been officially confirmed by either of them. None of it needed to be, either,  the speculation alone kept them in headlines for over a year, for free.

That’s the kind of built-in audience overlap most ambassador deals can only dream of. Marvel fans, Dune fans, Euphoria fans, awards-season commentary accounts, all of them already paying attention to this couple long before Prada came calling.

Every beauty brand wants a face that feels inevitable, not paid-for. That’s usually the expensive part, the part brands fake with a “power couple” concept and a big budget. Prada didn’t bother faking it. It signed two people already living it, a year apart, no shared campaign required.

Rosa Carriço, Prada Beauty’s global president, described Zendaya as someone who stays true to herself while capturing the moment. Read next to the Holland deal, that sounds less like a coincidence and more like a brand that knows exactly what it’s sitting on.

A married couple’s combined fanbase isn’t something you can buy or book. It shows up in headlines and group chats and fan edits without anyone asking for it. Other houses will probably start looking for the same thing, noticing the real relationships already on their ambassador roster and just… letting them exist in public at the same time.

Intentional or not, this is one of the smarter beauty marketing plays of the year. Sign the people already living it, and let real life do the rest.
