Thom Browne Fall-Winter ’25: A Flight of Fancy and Precision

Closing out New York Fashion Week in a spectacle of whimsy and craftsmanship, Thom Browne transported his audience into an ethereal world of avian elegance for Fall-Winter 2025. The designer, renowned for merging tailoring with storytelling, orchestrated a poetic display beneath 2,000 origami birds, crafting a narrative that soared between fantasy and precision.

From the moment the first model stepped onto the runway, Browne’s latest collection was an ode to freedom, structure, and escapism. The opening look—a sharply tailored grey overcoat embroidered with delicate white birds in flight—set the tone. This interplay between rigid formality and airy weightlessness defined the collection, reflecting Browne’s signature aesthetic while introducing movement and fluidity.

Silhouettes remained true to the brand’s architectural rigor, with exaggerated shoulders, cinched waists, and elongated proportions reminiscent of the Golden Age of couture. Yet, pleats and layered tulle skirts provided a sense of rebellion, challenging structured suiting.

A monochromatic palette of greys, blacks, and muted navies served as a refined backdrop for accents—golden embroidery, pearl embellishments, and brocade feathers—echoing the craftsmanship of Japanese origami. One standout piece—a structured tweed blazer deconstructed into pleats resembling outstretched wings—embodied the collection’s ethos: a dialogue between rigidity and release. Evening wear took a dramatic turn with floor-length capes lined in silk satin, mimicking birds in flight.

Despite its dreamlike execution, Browne’s Fall-Winter 2025 collection remained grounded in his commitment to redefining formalwear. Feathered collars, bird-shaped buttons, and sculptural headpieces bridged surrealism with sartorial mastery.

Knitwear was reimagined with oversized scarves cascading like plumage and wool suiting softened by embroidery. The collection’s tailored coats, finished with contrast stitching, underscored Browne’s technical expertise while embracing a narrative of transformation.

As the final look—a sweeping ivory cape embroidered with golden cranes—graced the runway, it became clear that Browne had crafted an experience. The show concluded under a snowfall of origami birds, a poetic nod to the fragility and strength of flight.

With Fall-Winter 2025, Browne once again proves that fashion is more than just clothing—it is storytelling, fantasy, and a testament to design’s power to transcend the ordinary.
