If your familiar with Peter Coulson’s fashion and editorial work, you are clearly portraiture follower but for those of you who are not familiar with it, you have clearly not being looking at the right place. Peter has quickly become one of the most respected and successful fashion photographers from down under.

There is a profound simplicity to his images, but an even more profound depth and impact that is clearly not created by simply great equipment. Like any of the greatest artists in history, Coulson crafts his images in such a way that it transcends any gear, despite the fact that he slings Hasselblad and often Profoto and Broncolor toys in studio.

While 95% of his work is in black and white, Coulson is a master at what he does even on the occasional color image. Here again, gorgeous simplicity is his staple – something I could definitely learn from in my own work.
