Following the momentum of her recent single Getting Out, indie-pop singer-songwriter Flora Fiora continues to carve out her place as one of the UK’s most compelling emerging voices with the release of her latest track, Mad In The Head. Arriving after a standout KOKO Studio Session and continued support from BBC Introducing, the new single offers another glimpse into an upcoming EP set for release later this year, marking her first project under Right Tracks, the boutique label and publishing venture founded by legendary Chrysalis co-founder Chris Wright.
Written solely by Flora Fiora, Mad In The Head explores the painful realisation that someone you trusted may never have truly been your friend. Channelling vulnerability into soaring indie-pop melodies, the track balances tense, introspective verses with an explosive chorus, allowing the emotional weight of self-doubt and betrayal to unfold with striking honesty.
“Mad In The Head explores a side of my music I think I’m yet to show,” Flora explains. “I always want to show the most vulnerable and emotive side of myself and I feel that comes through with this song. I’m really looking forward to my music going in this direction. I think we’re in for an emotional rollercoaster over the next few weeks!”
The single was produced by Mike Batt, renowned for his work with Katie Melua, alongside Luke Batt, whose production credits include the Jonas Brothers. Together, they help shape a sound that showcases Flora’s dynamic vocal range, moving effortlessly between soulful restraint and full-bodied indie-pop energy.
Raised in the small Gloucestershire village of Chedworth, Flora’s journey into music has been anything but conventional. Coming from a place without a local music scene or obvious industry connections, she has built her career independently, amassing more than one million streams and securing ongoing BBC Introducing support before signing with Right Tracks. Her story serves as a reminder that ambition and talent are never defined by geography.
Drawing inspiration from artists including Olivia Rodrigo, Florence + The Machine and Taylor Swift, Flora Fiora blends emotionally charged songwriting with theatrical flair, creating music that moves between intimate indie-folk moments and bold pop-rock anthems. Her larger-than-life stage presence has quickly become one of her defining qualities, whether performing solo or alongside her band.
Fans will have the opportunity to experience Mad In The Head live across a run of UK dates this summer and autumn, including appearances at Beautiful Days Festival, London’s Bread & Butter, Cheltenham’s Frog & Fiddle and a string of hometown performances across Gloucestershire.
With Mad In The Head, Flora Fiora isn’t afraid to confront uncomfortable emotions head-on. Instead, she transforms vulnerability into empowerment, delivering another captivating chapter in what is fast becoming one of the UK’s most exciting emerging artist stories.
