Oceanside-based Chicano artist Obed Padilla is pushing the boundaries of Latin Alternative with a sound as dynamic and expansive as his heritage, spanning Mexico, Costa Rica, and Southern California. Known for his genre-blending creativity and razor-sharp lyricism, Padilla is back with a new single that’s poised to soundtrack the summer: “Broncos y Benzes.”
A playful and rhythm-packed fusion of Latin hip-hop and street flair, “Broncos y Benzes” bursts with bold cultural textures and sun-soaked melodies. From the very first beat, the track immerses listeners in Padilla’s vibrant world, where lowriders cruise under palm trees and regional identity meets modern swagger.
“I’m super excited for ‘Broncos y Benzes’ to be out,” Padilla shares. “I wrote it with Billy Mann and Aftrhrs. We reproduced what we had originally made and it sounds completely different from the OG version. It came out really dope. Everybody who worked on it is super talented and I’m grateful to be in the room with these guys.”
This release follows Padilla’s standout EP, They Told Us There’s 2 Types of Mexicans, a bold and eclectic project featuring collaborations with Eddie Zuko and Austin Sexton. The EP cemented his reputation as a powerful voice in Latin hip-hop, one that fluidly blends traditional influences with contemporary beats. More recently, he also dropped Minute Made Mixtape for free on Bandcamp, a raw and unfiltered project showcasing his versatility and work ethic.
Now signed to Big Family Records (formerly PMR, helmed by Julian Bunetta), Padilla is entering a new chapter—one rooted in culture but aimed at the global stage. With “Broncos y Benzes,” he offers a sun-drenched anthem that captures the essence of who he is: a fearless creator redefining what it means to be a Latin artist in 2025.
