Today, the German five-piece Giant Rooks release the highly anticipated “King Thinking” visual, taken from their sophomore EPWild Stare that dropped earlier this year. The video is an evocative and interesting meditation on the nature of performance and artifice, and we are here to tell you all about it.
With over a million monthly listeners on Spotify, Giant Rooks are already building a huge international following before they’ve even released a debut album. After releasing Wild Stare they went on to play sold-out shows in London, Leeds and Manchester, to name but a few of the cities they are beginning to conquer. The band’s high-energy songs and thought-provoking lyricism has proven to extend beyond all boarders, and we can’t wait to see where they take it next.
The audio to “King Thinking” finds the band in a more contemplative mode, and channels the energy of some British bands that the boys – and us – all know and love, such as Bombay Bicycle Club and Alt J. Throughout all of Giant Rooks music, their musical references are versatile and unique. With a huge nod to British alternative pop, traces of folk, a touch of electronic and an overall progressive sound, their music is not bound by tradition genre categories. The colourful, cinematic visual to “King Thinking” speaks for itself, and we think you will love it.
Formed in 2015 and consisting of Frederik Rabe (guitar/vocals), Finn Schwieters (guitar), Luca Göttner (bassist), Jonathan Wischniowski (keys) and Finn Thomas (drums), the band have come along way from their humble beginnings. Giant Rooks show no sign of slowing down and will be returning to the UK in October for another set of shows in London, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester.
