Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed Phantom Arabesque, a one-of-one Phantom Extended commission that celebrates the rich architectural legacy of the Middle East through an extraordinary new level of Bespoke craftsmanship. Curated by Private Office Dubai, the commission introduces the world’s first laser-engraved Rolls-Royce bonnet, marking a major milestone for the marque’s design and engineering teams.
Inspired by Mashrabiya latticework, a hallmark of traditional Arabian architecture, Phantom Arabesque translates one of the region’s most recognisable visual languages into a contemporary luxury object. Historically used in houses, palaces, and courtyards across the Middle East, Mashrabiya screens are admired for their geometric beauty while also serving practical functions such as privacy, airflow, and cooling. Rolls-Royce reinterprets these qualities throughout the vehicle in a way that feels both deeply rooted in cultural heritage and unmistakably modern.

At the heart of the commission is a newly patented laser-engraving technique developed over five years by Rolls-Royce’s Exterior Surface Centre. The bonnet is first painted in a darker shade, sealed with layers of clear coat, and then topped with a lighter surface layer. The Mashrabiya-inspired pattern is then engraved into the uppermost paint layer to a depth of just 145 to 190 microns, revealing the darker tone beneath and creating a textured, three-dimensional finish that shifts subtly in changing light. Each engraved area is then meticulously hand-sanded to achieve the sculptural precision expected of a Rolls-Royce commission.
The exterior is finished in a dramatic two-tone Bespoke colourway, pairing Diamond Black with contrasting Silver upper surfaces. A single hand-painted Short Coachline carries a Mashrabiya motif, while the commission is further distinguished by an illuminated Pantheon Grille, Dark Chrome surround, an uplit Spirit of Ecstasy, and 22-inch part-polished alloy wheels.
Inside, Phantom Arabesque continues its design story with a restrained yet richly detailed interior. The full-width Gallery features an intricate marquetry artwork in Blackwood and Black Bolivar wood, echoing the geometric rhythm of Mashrabiya design. The cabin is finished in Selby Grey and Black leathers, with black piping, black carpets, and embroidered Mashrabiya motifs on both front and rear headrests. Starlight Doors, illuminated treadplates, and subtle contrast detailing complete a cabin that feels serene, sculptural, and quietly opulent.
Delivered to a commissioning client in the Middle East, Phantom Arabesque stands as more than a motor car. It is a statement on the future of Bespoke luxury, where technical innovation and cultural storytelling meet in a singular expression of craftsmanship. With this project, Rolls-Royce not only expands its creative vocabulary but also pays elegant tribute to one of the Middle East’s most enduring design traditions.
