Sierra’s New Tequila Cans Are About to Change Your Next Party

The tequila cocktail just got considerably easier

There are few things more satisfying than a good Margarita or a refreshing Paloma — but making one properly usually means having the tequila, citrus, mixers, ice and, ideally, someone behind the bar who knows what they’re doing.

Sierra Tequila has a rather simpler solution.

The Mexican tequila brand has expanded its ready-to-drink cocktail offering with Sierra Lime Margarita and Sierra Grapefruit Paloma, now available in Morrisons stores across the UK. Both arrive in 250ml cans at 6% ABV, bringing two of the most recognisable tequila cocktails straight from the fridge to the glass — or, depending on the occasion, straight from the can.

And if the reaction at House of Solo’s 10th anniversary celebration at CÉ LA VI London was anything to go by, these are precisely the kind of drinks people actually want to reach for at a party. Guests were particularly enthusiastic about both the Margarita and the Paloma, with the latter offering a refreshing alternative to the usual sweet, citrus-led cocktail.

Meet the new Sierra Paloma

The newest addition to the line-up is the Sierra Grapefruit Paloma, combining bitter grapefruit and zesty citrus with cooked agave notes. It has now landed at Morrisons alongside the Sierra Lime Margarita, with both available for £2.60 per 250ml can. Morrisons is also currently offering four for £6 and five for £7.

For anyone who prefers their tequila cocktail with a little more bite, the Paloma makes an especially interesting addition to the RTD category. Its grapefruit-led profile gives it that bittersweet freshness associated with the classic Mexican cocktail, while the cooked agave notes keep the tequila character present rather than disappearing behind the mixer.

The Sierra Lime Margarita, meanwhile, keeps things classic: tangy lime, balanced sweetness, a hint of salt and Sierra Tequila. According to the brand, it is already the UK’s best-selling cocktail-in-a-can flavour, and the Sierra Lime Margarita picked up a Master Medal at The Spirits Business Pre-Mixed Masters 2026

From Mexican tequila to the ready-to-drink revolution

The move into RTDs is a natural extension for Sierra, a Mexican tequila produced by the fourth-generation, family-owned Destilerías Sierra Unidas in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The brand is instantly recognisable for its distinctive bottles topped with miniature sombreros — a playful nod to its Mexican heritage.

Behind the colourful packaging is a production process rooted in traditional tequila-making. Sierra uses Blue Weber Agave grown around Jalisco, where the agave can take five to seven years to mature before harvesting. The piñas are then cooked for around 24 hours before fermentation and double distillation in traditional pot stills.

That heritage is important because the RTDs aren’t simply generic canned cocktails borrowing the tequila name. They are made with Sierra Tequila, bringing the brand’s agave-led character into a format designed for convenience.

Margarita, Paloma or Strawberry?

The new Grapefruit Paloma joins an existing RTD line-up that also includes Sierra Strawberry Margarita, alongside the Lime Margarita. The Strawberry version brings together sweet strawberries and Sierra Tequila, while the Margarita and Paloma are now available through Morrisons.

The result is a line-up that covers three very different moods: sharp and citrusy with Lime, fruit-forward with Strawberry, or bittersweet and refreshing with Grapefruit Paloma.

And that’s arguably where Sierra’s RTD range makes the most sense. Rather than asking guests what spirit they want and then playing bartender all evening, you can simply stock the fridge and let everyone choose their own.

The Sierra party has officially arrived

The timing also feels right. RTDs have become a fixture of modern entertaining, particularly when the priority is spending less time measuring ingredients and more time actually enjoying the party.

That was certainly the mood at House of Solo’s 10th anniversary celebration at CÉ LA VI London, where Sierra joined the evening alongside the event’s other partners. With cocktails, canapés, DJs and London’s skyline providing the backdrop, the Sierra Margaritas and Palomas proved particularly popular with guests — a useful real-world test for any drink that claims to be party-ready.

Now available at Morrisons, the latest Sierra cans make a strong case for keeping a few chilled in the fridge. Because sometimes the best cocktail is the one that requires absolutely no cocktail-making at all.
