TOGA has always known how to make a textile interesting, and SS27 is no exception. For Spring/Summer 2027, Yasuko Furuta explores “Acclimatisation, Adaptation, Liberation”, looking at the contrast between European heatwaves and Tokyo’s humid summers — and how clothing can adapt to both extremes.
But for us, it is the little details that really make this collection. The brooches immediately caught our attention. With their cocktail and party-inspired details, they bring an almost after-hours feeling to the looks. It is very TOGA: that little detail means a lot. We also loved the sheer layering — transparent fabrics worn underneath tailored jackets or transformed into trousers. It creates a great tension between something traditionally polished and something much more revealing.
Then there are the prints. Some of them have that familiar curtain-print feeling — almost like a pattern you might recognise from home, but reimagined across garments and bags. And I mean that in the best possible way. It gives the collection an unexpected sense of familiarity while still feeling unmistakably TOGA.
Sportswear also enters the conversation, reflecting Furuta’s idea of clothing adapting to changing climates.
And there is more happening in beauty. TOGA ARCHIVES has collaborated with Japanese beauty brand ADDICTION on the limited-edition “FLUID IDENTITY” holiday collection, while ADDICTION also provides the makeup for the SS27 show.
It is another example of TOGA extending its visual language beyond clothing — from the runway to the beauty counter, with the same playful attention to detail. Because ultimately, that is what makes TOGA so recognisable.
