Veuve Clicquot is leaning further into design culture this summer with the launch of “Chasing the Sun”, a new collaboration with British-Nigerian artist and designer Yinka Ilori.
Known as the “Architect of Joy”, Ilori brings his unmistakable use of colour and storytelling to a limited-edition collection of objects created around celebration, sunlight and shared moments.
Rather than approaching the project as traditional branded merchandise, the collaboration focuses on collectible design pieces that blur the line between functionality and lifestyle. The result feels closer to modern summer décor than champagne accessories.
At the centre of the collection are the Sun Totems and Sun Holder — sculptural bottle carriers inspired by the calabash form and produced using upcycled materials and 3D knitting technology. Designed to keep champagne chilled for up to 90 minutes, the pieces combine portability with a more playful, design-led sensibility.
Elsewhere, Veuve Clicquot’s signature Clicquot Arrow is reimagined through three vibrant new patterns created by Ilori, transforming the house’s iconic directional gift box into something more graphic and expressive.
Visually, the collaboration leans fully into optimism. Sun motifs, embracing hands and bold colour combinations run throughout the collection — reinforcing the project’s wider theme of warmth, togetherness and light.
The timing also feels intentional. As luxury brands continue expanding into homeware, travel and collectible lifestyle objects, collaborations like this speak to a consumer increasingly interested in how fashion, art and hospitality intersect within everyday living.
Originally unveiled during Milan Design Week, the “Chasing the Sun” collection arrives at Selfridges from early May as one of the season’s more playful luxury launches.
