For Louis Vuitton, fragrance has never been simply about scent. It has become another expression of the Maison’s craftsmanship, and its latest collaboration with Californian artist Alex Israel pushes that idea further than ever before.
Introducing the Woody Wagon Colognes, a limited-edition collector’s piece that transforms Louis Vuitton’s Cologne collection into a sculptural object inspired by California’s iconic wood-panelled station wagons. Housing all six Cologne fragrances inside a handcrafted miniature vehicle, the release blurs the lines between perfume, design and contemporary art.
Limited to just 66 editions as a tribute to the legendary Route 66, every Woody Wagon is assembled from 219 individual components, requiring more than 7,000 hours of craftsmanship by over 60 artisans. Mahogany wood, natural leather and signature Monogram details bring together vintage Americana and Louis Vuitton’s unmistakable savoir-faire in a piece that feels equally at home in a collector’s cabinet as it does within the world of luxury fragrance.
Inside sit the Maison’s six California-inspired Cologne creations by Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, including Afternoon Swim, Pacific Chill, Sun Song, California Dream, City of Stars and On the Beach, each celebrating a different moment along the American West Coast.
Alongside the Woody Wagon, Louis Vuitton also introduces three translucent resin travel cases for Sun Song, California Dream and Afternoon Swim, extending Alex Israel’s unmistakable gradient colour palette into objects that feel as collectible as the fragrances themselves. Each travel case is produced in a limited edition of 100 pieces.
More than a fragrance launch, the Woody Wagon reflects how Louis Vuitton continues to expand beauty beyond the bottle. Like its trunks and objets nomades, this latest creation positions perfume within the wider conversation of luxury design—where craftsmanship, storytelling and collectability matter just as much as the scent itself.
