Newly appointed Arts & Culture Director, WANDA, to talk about: The Art of Power, Taste & Timing

Wanda you began your career during the golden era of MTV. What did that chapter give you?

It gave me instinct. MTV at that time wasn’t just television it was culture in motion. Everything was fast, influential, magnetic. You had to understand people instantly: what they respond to, what excites them, what stays in their memory.

That environment trained my eye not just for aesthetics, but for impact.

I’ve never been someone who stays in one dimension. I needed depth. That’s why I moved into music, television, fine arts, and business management.

Today, you operate as a multidisciplinary entrepreneur across tattoo, art, collecting, investment, and cultural strategy. Everything feels different, yet connected. What does being an art collector truly mean to you?

Being an art collector is about seeing before others do. Anyone can buy something beautiful. That’s easy. But to recognise significance before it becomes obvious that’s where the real power is.

A collector builds a vision. You’re not just acquiring works, you’re curating identity, preserving voices, and positioning value ahead of the market. And I strongly believe art is also about timing the right piece, at the right moment.

Art collecting is instinct, intelligence, and timing. And when you understand it, it becomes a language. Your model is unconventional. You treat art almost like real estate.
Because it is an asset. Just a more intelligent one. I’ve been investing in art since I was very young, and I approach it the way others approach property. I acquire pieces and place them strategically within private collections, exhibitions, and high-end homes, preparing to enter the market.

When you introduce the right art, the right colours, everything changes. It’s like putting on the perfect outfit you are instantly perceived differently.

When a space holds exceptional art, everything shifts. The perception changes. The emotional response changes. And ultimately, the value increases.

Art doesn’t just sit on a wall. It transforms environments and that transformation has real financial power.

You’re also familiar with the auction world. What does it take to succeed there?

Auctions are pure psychology. Of course, you need knowledge, provenance, authenticity, market trends. But that’s just the foundation.

The real game is timing and control. You have seconds to decide, to act, to hold, or to walk away. And walking away can be just as powerful as winning. I’m a strong negotiator. It’s one of my superpowers. That’s how I get what I want. My advice is simple: be ready to walk away at any moment.
The moment people feel how much you want something, you lose leverage.

Control is everything.

You’ve created a very distinct lifestyle around art. Has a traditional path ever appealed to you?

Never. I’m too creative for a 9-to-5 structure. It doesn’t fit the way I think or move. My world is built on instinct, timing, and opportunity. Art doesn’t exist on a schedule, and neither do I.

As Art & Culture Director for House of Solo, what is your vision?

Access and perspective. I want to take people beyond galleries and into private worlds, into collectors’ homes, into spaces where art is lived with, not displayed for approval.

I want to build a cultural platform inside House of Solo that feels alive, layered, and global.

Woman in Art — highlighting powerful female voices shaping culture

Artists in Their Studio — raw, intimate access to the creative process

Wanda in Conversation With — honest dialogues with artists, collectors, and visionaries

Exceptional Art in Incredible Places — where art meets architecture, travel, and atmosphere

At Home With — entering private collections and personal spaces

Who Is — introducing rising and established names with impact

And alongside that I want to cover the full ecosystem of the art world.

Who is the artist closest to your heart?

Frida Kahlo. She is raw truth. No filter. No compromise. Her work isn’t there to please you but to confronts you. It pulls you into her world, her pain, her identity, her strength.

I connect with that level of honesty. With that refusal to dilute yourself for acceptance.

She turned suffering into power, and power into legacy.

Frida didn’t follow the world.

She made the world feel her.

Finally, how would you define your role today?

I build ecosystems around art. I connect artists, collectors, spaces, and opportunities. I see value before it’s recognised. I move art in a way that makes it alive, circulating, evolving, influencing. Wanda Tattoo Studio and Art Gallery is my home my sanctuary.

Art is no longer something you simply admire.

It’s something you invest in.

Something you live with.

Something that defines you. Whether you realise it or not.
