Bec O’Malley Releases Debut Single “Let You Go”

Manchester-based singer-songwriter Bec O’Malley has released his debut single, “Let You Go”, introducing a fresh new voice within the UK’s growing country, folk and Americana scene.

Coming from one of Britain’s most iconic music cities, O’Malley is taking a different path from Manchester’s traditional indie and guitar-band legacy. Instead, he blends modern country storytelling with a distinctly northern perspective, bringing together emotional honesty, humour and the lived experience of growing up in the North West.

Produced by Mark Crew, known for his work with Bastille, Freya Ridings and James Arthur, alongside Adam Argyle, whose credits include James Arthur, James Bay and Myles Smith, “Let You Go” marks the first official glimpse into an artist already building serious momentum. Early teasers of the track have attracted nearly two and a half million views and listens, while O’Malley has also been developing a strong live following through word-of-mouth shows.

Born and raised in Stockport, O’Malley first picked up a guitar at 12 before spending years performing in local venues, Irish bars and writing between Manchester and Liverpool. Influenced by artists such as Zach Bryan and Tyler Childers, he draws from the narrative depth of country music without trying to imitate American culture.

“Let You Go” reflects that approach. What first sounds like a love song slowly reveals something darker beneath the surface, exploring the unsettling perspective of someone unable to let go.

Speaking on the release, O’Malley says: “‘Let You Go’ is my debut single. It’s a track shaped by years of writing, influences, and creative growth. The song began with a dark narrative in mind, the unsettling perspective of someone who refuses to let go. I’ve always believed music should be personal, so I hope listeners find their own meaning within the track too.”

Having already sold out his first headline show at Manchester’s Deaf Institute, with festival slots and support tours across the UK and Ireland, Bec O’Malley steps into his next chapter with a debut that feels personal, atmospheric and full of promise.

“Let You Go” is out now on all DSPs.
